The 1952 Patrician is beautiful but they are wrong about it having original plates! The black with yellow plates were issued, I believe, in the '60s with the next plates starting at the beginning of calendar year (not model year) 1970 which were blue with yellow. In 1952, the yellow with black plates were still in use and I have a pair for my 1956 Clipper which are embossed with 1956 where we now use a sticker.

Couple of new ones I spotted today on FB:

1937 115C Touring Sedan. Barn Find, needs everything. Car located in Indiana. Data plate shows that the car was originally sold by the John J. Scanlon agency of Meriden, Connecticut. This was my hometown growing up, so I was pretty excited to see this. In 1953, Scanlon's gave up its Packard franchise and switched to Chrysler-Plymouth. They later moved to another location in town and the building became the site of a Chevrolet dealership. It was torn down in the 1960's and today, the location is the site of a city park. I once did some research on John J. Scanlon and he was an interesting guy. A real "pillar of the community" type, he was active in a number of civic organizations and served as Meriden's postmaster for many years (the town post office was located just blocks from the dealership). Scanlon passed away in 1956.

Very rough 1956 400, also in NY. NY state inspection sticker from 1972 indicates last time it was on the road; car looks like it has been sitting outside ever since. Windshield knocked out. Probably just a parts car at this point. Interior is totally trashed, though the sheet metal actually does not appear to be that bad:

On the 56 interior, I'm surprised it still has plastic over the rear seats yet the rest of the car is in awful shape. One wonders how such a drastic change of attentiveness/care happened over the years.

On top of that, the mangled headliner is quite rare to see in these since it was all vinyl, and the mice and coons tend to stay out of them. Must have been a critter habitat for a long while.

About my license plate comment here, the low mileage 1952 Patrician listed some postings black where it stated it had original license plates, it does not but for the year it should have back with yellow plates but in a different style than those on it. Those on it are as I indicated, are for a later ‘60s edition with the yellow with the black series in between.

Really curious what the inside of the flood car looks like

Probably not good, which is why the seller did not post any interior pictures. I would be afraid to buy either one of these flood cars, unless I wanted them just for parts. Water probably got into the engines, so everything is now rusted and seized. Interiors and electrical systems probably also ruined. You will never get the smell out of a flood damaged interior. Mildew stains will be everywhere.These cars look like they might have been underwater for days.

Maybe at least hose off a car you are trying to sell?

Charles: Agree. These two cars are almost indescribably filthy, but I actually see this in online ads more often than you would think. Cars covered in mildew, dead leaves and other debris. Makes for a good derelict cars photo shoot, but not if you intend to sell it. But some people are apparently too lazy or unmotivated to make the effort. Or maybe they think that that "barn find" look will attract more buyers. I hear this term all of the time as if it is something desirable. Most of these so-called barn finds should probably be left in the barn.

Mention flood damage and I am going to run in the opposite direction. I formerly worked as a driver for a used car auction company. I recall one time, I had to get into a flood damaged BMW which apparently had been shipped up from Florida following a hurricane. The car was full of sand and actually had clumps of dried seaweed stuck to the seats and even the headliner. This thing must have been completely submerged in seawater, possibly for days. It stunk like a dead fish inside. The car was literally dying as I struggled to drive it up onto the auction block and the warning lights on the dash were all flashing like Broadway on opening night. Couldn't believe that anyone would actually bid on this wreck, but it did sell. This was a dealer only auction, so I hate to think what happened next. The dealer probably polished it up and sold it to some poor sucker. What a nightmare.
