Many cars around that time were offered as two-door sedans or coupes, and a few even offered business coupes. The coupes were similar to a two-door, but had a shorter greenhouse and shorter rear side windows. In the case of Fords in the 1949 through 1954 models, the coupes had wider panel between the bottom of the rear window and the trunk lid. Lids were all the same, but the deck was longer and the top shorter on the coupe, which much improved the appearance. Chevrolet also offered coupe bodies in that era, with similar structure as the Fords. I was wondering if Packard did the same. I'm not speaking of the hardtop coupe models, which are a different animal.

Not on Packard. The 2-door sedan variants were all the same externally. In fact, the only variant I can think of was a one or maybe two year only model that had a platform rather than a rear seat and many of them were converted back by the dealer to having a seat.

The platform version would be a business coupe. Lightest weight model.

Few new ones this morning on FB:

1951 300. An antique store in Mississippi was apparently using this Packard to promote their business and now they want it gone. Unrestored and not running but does not look actually too bad. Has a 1952 model hood bird. Car is indoors, so it looks like this business is at one of those antique malls. Only $2,200:

1955 Patrician. Looks clean inside and out, but back end is dragging on the ground, so I would assume that there are issues with the Torsion Level ride system, among other things. Asking 14K. Interior is nice. Alabama:

1948 Sedan. Not sure of model, either a Standard or a Deluxe. Runs, but needs a lot of work. Someone started redoing the interior, but fabric does not look original. Asking $3,500. Texas.

1955 Patrician. Good driver quality car. See some rust spots along the bottom edges but appears to be pretty solid overall and presentable as is. Seller is asking $9K. Miami, FL Craigslist:

1956 Clipper Constellation HT. Needs complete restoration, but West Coast body is very solid. Ad states car is originally from Oregon. Seller is apparently liquidating his collection as he has a number of other cars for sale including two Franklins, a 1935 Hupmobile, a 1951 Nash and a 1959 Edsel Station Wagon among others. The 1955 Patrician looks just like one for sale in Central Oregon which is even the same color. Last I was there it was still available and I posted photos and details of it at the time I stopped to see it.

1935 1201 Sedan. Solid body, car is an unfinished street rod project with a Chevy V8. At least it appears that the body has not been altered. Ad states that it is a 1934, but it is a 1935 model and I'm reasonably certain that it is a 1201 Standard Eight Touring Sedan. Asking $12,000. NC location:

1953 Clipper Sedan. This is a base model Clipper, but ad has it incorrectly identified as a Deluxe model. Cheezy repaint in an incorrect color over obvious rust and an even cheezier incorrect interior in a modern fabric. Car also has an incorrect grille and hood ornament off of a 1951. Probably way overpriced at $8,500, but car does run and drive and has had much recent work done to it, including new brakes. Tennessee:

The Clipper is a pieced together car with a 1951 front clip, a 1953 Clipper body and a Clipper Deluxe trunk lid.

Good afternoon...I play with Model A Fords as well as Packards and help out in a shop that works on them one day a week. We see lots of them that have parts from all four years 1928 to 1931. Some people don't seem to know or care and just drive and enjoy. As long as they did not pay too much and are happy...so be it. We had one come in that was painted all white, including fenders...we told he guy that he had comitted a sin! He smiled and said 'The wife likes it! I suspect the same is true here. Someone obtained an unloved car, prehaps after an accident, improved it, made it roadable...and may not know that the parts are from different years and models or even care! The parts at least more or less fit...At least it is a Packard and it is on the road!...all in all not too bad for a trip for Ice Cream on Saturday night with the Grand Kids. Well overpriced at 8500 but I have seen far worse choices when, let's say, "creatively restoring" cars.

8500 isn't much today for a presentable car that "runs and drives".
If it actually runs dependably...
