Thanks. For whatever reason my engine came with some that have a hose on the cooler side. But obviously it's easier/cheaper to do all metal.

Actually, I should be able to pick the ones off my car to use as templates.

I installed transmission oil cooler lines on a non-Packard (31 Ford Model A Roadster Hot Rod) with a SBC and GM TH-350. I used "rubber" hose for the job. It is a special cooler line rated hose. Made the job much easier than trying to fit metal tubing. Worked well for me.

The only stock rubber hoses Packard used were on the 23rd series Ultras but after that, as Kev said they were all metal. One reason you might have hoses at the cooler would be if some mechanic installed them after needing to move the cooler out of the way to change the lower radiator hoses. Sometimes the steel lines can be a pain and need to be disconnected because the cooler won't go very far and provide much extra clearance if they stay attached.

While we are on this topic, does anyone remember the size of the line? Is it 5/16?

The adaptors into the trans case are labeled 5/16. G137406

(For Twin Ultras)

As many of us know, the torque converter reactor endplay must be between .010 and .017, and the manual says to adjust this by replacing the "first turbine thrust washer" 3.6233 to one of a thicker size.

However there are 3 thrust washers total in the assembly:
- 3.6233 (above) between the clutch housing and first turbine
- 3.6163 between the first turbine and reactor
- 3.6173 between the reactor and pump

Since of course the pump is bolted to the clutch housing, these 3 are sufficient to keep everything "spaced apart".

Is it ever necessary that the two other thrust washers wear enough to need replacement? The parts book indicates only up to 0.48 oversize on the 3.6233 washer.

Throttle shaft there is a diagram showing specs

As spacers go.

I have only dealt with the multiple size one.

Send a picture.

Of coarse might pop in.

If you look at his video. He will use that spacer that looks like plumbers tape. And add a spacer there.

I think if he doesn't have a spacer thick enough for reactor shaft .

He goes there.
