I think that's either factory or dealer retrofit as I seem to recall seeing a bulletin about the extra drip rail being needed.

Yeah I need to check the bulletins. This was a very early car and has the oil baffles too.

I have the 145th 55 Constellation here and it has them spot welded to the molding. Later on they reworked the rubber gasket to take the place of those little troughs.

For reference, here's photos from a late production 55 400 with original weatherstripping. Someone decided to use a self tapper to hold it in place; my assumption is that was done after painting it.

Leaks in that area were very common in all cars with the wrap around windshield styling. It looked very modern back in the day, but it led to many a rusty floorboard.
