Unless you can find a NAPA VR755 which I believe will prove to be nearly impossible, you best choice may be to disconnect but leave the current cutout/regulator in place for cosmetic purposes, convert the generator to a 2-brush unit, and install and hide a modern regulator in some out of sight location. Jason at AER in Grand Ledge MI should be able to help you with this.

A few sources for exact fit replacement units, and 6V positive ground regulators, for potential retrofit.

Thanks ! I will check these out. Spent hours looking last night and sorting thru posts this morning.
Will try and put up a couple pics. R

Looking around on the links sent , thanks.
Here's a couple pics of what I found under the cover , and had brought it in to a local guy And he just stuck a cutout on it. I will not run it as such and an removing it , pretty sure I read do not run it With just a cutout. [PROCESSING IMAGE.... PLEASE WAIT]

From the information found for the Transpo D-100 it is a diode and just works as a cutoff and not any kind of regulator. When the engine and generator is running a slightly higher voltage produced by the generator flows to the battery thru the diode because it will be forward biased. When engine is stopped and generator voltage goes away the diode will then be reverse biased by the battery and diode works to block any battery voltage from being fed back to the generator. All required voltage and current regulation the car needs is done by adjusting the third brush on the generator.
Should you not find a real regulator and want to keep the cutoff, if the battery is not being charged and generator is definitely OK, I would think there is an issue in the generator brush adjustment. As I recall from a previous lifetime there is on average about 6/10 of a volt drop thru a diode so the generator needs to be able to provide that in addition to the normal charging voltage. It is also possible the diode is open which is not the usual failure state for a diode but it could have shorted first and then burned open. If you have a multimeter they typically have a diode check function so you might disconnect the cutoff and do a test to verify your diode is OK. There is a poster on a Ford forum with what sounds like your same symptoms and advise there was to try adjusting the third brush to provide a bit more voltage and current. There is another Ford post with instruction on how to install and adjust a diode cutoff. Not sure it is a Transpo D-100 they are installing but same principles would apply and instructions might give some insight and guidance on checking and adjusting yours.

Thanks Howard
Somehow I have screwed up this post and now the post is larger than my screen and have to scroll left and right to read it after I put up those pics. ugh The diode is a NTE 5994 I will do a check on it with the multimeter. This system has a steep learning curve for me : ) In reality the car will probably never be driven at night, with a full headlight draw on it. I would just like it to show a charge and not screw up the battery and bulbs. I see from reading thru posts it will be nearly impossible to find an original Owen Dyneto set up. I may start another post searching for one , but others have sent me links and great information to follow thru on. A Ehrlich VR 755 seems to be the ticket. I am still looking to verify if the 33 Owen set up is an A curcuit or a B Thanks again and to all that have responded

Here is the datasheet for the diode. It has a very high voltage and a 40 amp average forward or generator to battery current capacity but less in the other or reverse blocking direction. The generator probably has a maximum output of somewhere around 20 amps so unless there was some massive surge caused by a direct short or possibly a wrong polarity hookup, neither limit should have been reached to cause any diode damage. If the diode checks good I would start with the brush and trying to get more voltage and current ouput from the generator.
