Not sure what you mean, the parts book gives them as the same.

Both model numbers in the parts book for the black headliner were for the Packard Executive and I see no reference to any other model. Did I miss something?
Oh, I see what you mean! I have code 41 but absolutely do not have a black diamond headliner! These charts and specifications are written before the cars were built so are often off. For example, the sales book for mine shows 41 as having two colors while mine has three in addition to a pressed vinyl.

Re: the bumpers
Was there something particular you needed to see? I took lots of photos when taking mine apart

I presume you’re referring to my request for an exploded view. No, nothing specific. I’m looking for an exploded view to be able to more easily identify all the various bits of hardware holding it all together.

Don I think you misunderstood my post. The photo I sent is seat upholstery. It's what I think SMS may have on hand thinking it is headliner for your car.
The parts book page was issued in July 56 and describes the headliner as light gray.

I did understand it eventually and added to my comment that I knew what you meant. That’s exactly what they used even though I had sent a sample of the headliner which they apparently lost and don’t remember seeing. They were also going to give me black vinyl-covered windlace to match the lap robe when those in the car are grey cloth, as are the b-pillar and headliner. They apparently lost the windlace sample too.
As far as the black headliner is concerned, I wonder if any were actually made that way! These salesman books were obsolete as soon as they were printed but a black headliner seems downright gloomy and that’s from someone who collects hearses!

Gotcha but I don't see anywhere in the parts book a black headliner.

I don’t either. I simply meant if that fabric was actually used on a headliner it would be too dark! It looks closer to the material on the seat backs and lower door panels but is not on the swatches for trim 41 in the salesman’s handbook, or at least it’s not in the same place as the two-fabric one for my car but that I have.

Can anyone confirm the windlacing on a 1956 Clipper Custom or 1956 Packard Executive sedan is cloth rather than being vinyl-wrapped?
