Saw this ad today on FB Marketplace for what looks like a 22nd Series Standard Eight Club Sedan. It has the 22nd series flat taillights and no center sweep spear. However, the serial number on the data plate is 2395-6412, which indicates a 23rd Series car. So, what is going on here? Was the data plate switched with another car or did Packard build a car in the 23rd series with 22nd series trim? Any ideas?

The first four digits of the Vehicle Number doesn't match the Briggs Number. The Briggs is showing it as a 22nd series. So some VN swap-a-roo looks to have happen at some point.

The exterior lacks the over the windows stainless, so looks Eight. The door panel pattern looks Eight Deluxe. So mixed signals
Why would the Briggs numbers differentiate between Eight and Eight Deluxe? The body is the same

The first 4 digits of the Briggs number should mirror the actual vehicle Number, which is the body model number.
So would it be different between a Eight and a Deluxe Eight.

Here is the 22-23 series model identification list. In the second column the Briggs number with 22 in the first set of numbers denotes the series so is the same for all the models but the second pair denotes the different body style and trim differences when ordering most body parts. The third column with chassis numbers also determines year but would be used when ordering most mechanical parts when choosing between models..
