Just to clarify, the photo showing the white paint is the left side….BUT

I need the right side bucket or as Kev says a non-license plate bucket.

I found an older picture so I have really good before and after pictures in regards to painting the inside of my tail lights bucket bright white. These are with the same LED bulbs. The After picture almost looks like brake lights, but it’s not.

Here is the Before picture…not horrible…

Here is the After picture….quite a bit better!

We had beautiful weather in KC yesterday, so I pulled the car out and took a few pictures of the car.

On the rust through in the brake light bucket…. Weld it…. Cut it out and Weld in new metal… or use two part epoxy putty to fill it in and then sand it smooth. Paint… easy fix and cheaper.

Yeah, I know it can be fixed, but my preference is still to get a good one if I can. I have located from a couple of sources…Tucson Packards and Packard Seattle.

I just need to follow up with them….but for now, taking care of Dad in the hospital…major kidney stone and infection. Doing okay right now, but that’s the priority.

Well, I’m starting to call around to body shops. In the KC area they all have huge back logs. I have a number of winter projects, but I’m hoping ot be ready for body/paint followed by interior this time next year.

I’ll be taking my car to a body shop near by on Monday or Tuesday to have them take a close look and give me a reasonable estimate. In preparation for that, I decided to pull my interior door panels so that they will be able to better see overall condition. Tho good news is no rust. There WAS a lot of dirt and debris, including numerous old wasps nest settled in the bottom of the doors.

While I was at it, I discovered that I have one broken door handle. I noticed that it would “pivot” outward. There was good reason for that. I’ve put it on my list for Flackmaster.

With the panels off, I decided to see if I could get my window regulators working well. None of them worked well at all. The front and rear on the driver’s side just need cleaned and lubed…for now that is just WD-40. They are working great! I’ll go back with a good lube tomorrow.

Both doors on the passenger side are another story….I got the regulators cleaned up and working well, but the window tracks are a disaster and causing things to bind. That will be for another day…probably the body shop as I’ll have them replace the glass as well since almost every window has a crack somewhere.

The next step was the regulators for the front wing windows. The gears were shot…here’s one compared to the new ones (reproductions) I had previously purchased from John Ulrich.

They were filthy as well. I got the passenger side cleaned up, new gear installed and the put back together. It works great! It hasn’t worked in my lifetime!

I have the driver’s side disassembled and waiting for me to clean it all up and install the new gear tomorrow.

The reproduction gears from John Ulrich seem to work great. As long as they hold up and aren’t abused, I should be in good shape for a long time. That said, I’m considering buying another set of gears to have on hand as spares. If not me, my kids may need them some day.

I did find one “treasure” in the bottom of passenger side rear door….

I asked Dad…he said he never had a locking gas cap in the time he had the car. I’m guessing the previous owner likely did…at least until they lost the key!
