Another thought:
There is also quite a bit of vertical clearance under the hood of these old girls, so a 1/4" extended tube on the base to raise it above the choke stove would work too.

Upon further inspection, making an extension is going to be the way to go. It would take denting the bottom in 5/8 in to make it work.

The 115s had the Carter carb, after the Chandler Groves fiasco. Why not just get the base off of a 115? The riser would also work, and I bet you could bend the brace enough to make it line up.

Yep, silly me. The 120C (and 138CD) air cleaner assembly is a 335947 with the Stromberg, and a 320440 with the Carter. The 115c calls for a 316705, so it would appear that all three are different.

I have a plan to make an adapter. This might work out well as it will make a good project for Dad. He is a retired tool and die maker and has a small lathe. I got a piece of steel tube with an OD larger than we need and an ID smaller than we need. Then, we can turn everything down to size. The part that fits the carb will be about 1/8 in thick and we’ll secure it to the carb with three set screws. Then, the air cleaner will attach to the adapter as normal.

As far as the brace that goes to the engine block, I may not have to do anything. The Carter carb is about 1/4 in shorter than the Stromberg. The adapter will raise the air cleaner about 1/2 inch. That, in theory, puts the brace about a 1/4 too short, but since it is bowed, I may be able to make it work. If not, it will be very easy to make a new brace.

I'm back with another rookie question. I'm planning to replace my rear leaf springs. I will be sending one in to be made. But, I have a question about the associated pieces....shackles, bushings etc...

What is likely to need replacing? If these parts need replaced, are these available? Mine are not the same as a 120C, but will be the same as the commercial 120CAs.
