Does that number supersede the one that's on the part I have?

That is a casting number, not a part number, but they do sometimes coincide although more often they are a number or two off from each other. However, i have never seen one with the flat bottom so my guess is that’s a reproduction or aftermarket. The base casting seems much rougher too which somewhat confirms that aftermarket theory. There was someone a while back on Facebook that swore the Cormorants they were selling were originals but they were not and this appears to be similar to those.

Well, it would appear that the heavier one, indeed, is a reproduction. Look at the pitch of the wings, when viewed dead on center on the head of the bird. The Packard wings (the ones with no red riding on them) spread out from the vertical zero line equally, whereas the reproduction does not. Thanks guys - if you hadn't pointed out that it was possibly a reproduction, I wouldn't have looked at it more closely.

Those wings on the heavy one are whacky for sure. Good job on making sure you car has original parts on it!

The original has different wings left and right but probably to save costs, the reproduction made them the same.
