Thank you. The avatar was created for me by Mahoning63 from sketches I had made years ago. It was to be based on my 1951’s 156” wheelbase chassis and have 1954 trim with a 359 engine and Ultramatic rather than the Henney’s manual with overdrive. To that end I have most hard to find trim and mechanical pieces to build it but at my age I realized it will never happed. It was just a dream.

1956 Packards painted Scottish Heather (and I have owned a whole bunch of them over the years) typically fade to a lighter pink. This is especially true of cars stored outdoors in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona. AND even moreso if the car has been stored outdoors in the desert.
Flamingo had a brilliance to it but was quite pale and less intense in comparison to Scottish Heather. I was told by someone who worked for Packard that Flamingo was introduced to compete with Cadillac's pale pink color that was offered in 1956. Cadillac called it "Mountain Laurel." Pink was a very, very IN color during the mid-1950s, though this may now be forgotten (or never known) by most as to just how important!

Even though I was just a kid, I was quite into cars in the mid-‘50s and remember the multi-color Dodges with pink along with some of the others.
