Of course I’m sure you realize that when you pour oil into cylinders where valves are open, it will disappear so it will take quite a few small rotations, more oil and waiting, and more oil over and over before it soaks enough to free the valves and/or rings. It takes patience and lots of it. When it comes time to try to start it, do so only with fresh gasoline or else you’ll end up back where you started or worse. I know this from experience!

Thanks for help..starter button was burned out and got decent compression in all cylinders…i now need help adjusting my valve tapper clearance….have no problem doing it with 1/2 inch wrenches but wondering if piston must be top dead center when making adjustments or does it matter? Or does rotation need to be different for intake vs exhaust? Tks

Here is a bit on valve adjustment from the service manual. Important part is the engine needs to be warm so parts are expanded. After that the crank is turned so the lifter being adjusted is all the way down to ensure valve is fully closed and the actual gap can be measured and adjusted. I don't have it but perhaps one of the engine guys can provide the 6 cylinder sequence where you can start at a particular valve and just keep turning the crank forward a small amount after each adjustment. That will let you adjust another valve in the firing sequence so minimal effort will let each valve be in the proper closed state. There was a technical article for adjusting the inline 8s on the PAC site if it is still accessible to non members but don't believe there was anything for the 6.
. On the starter switch, since it is burned to the point of not being able to function make sure there is no intermittent short in the wire or solenoid that caused a current surge thru the switch heavy enough to do the damage.
