As Ernie suggested, Max Merritt is a good starting point but I would avoid any NOS coils you might find and instead look for a reproduction if it exists. I remember seeing one solution for the firewall type that used a standard modern coil in a housing that closely emulated the appearance of the original but not sure who was making or selling those as it was some time ago, and I don't know if anything similar was made for the engine-mounted type. I probably have a used one or two from 1940 but not sure of condition as I must have replaced them for some reason. As for NOS, even without use, age along can deteriorate the innards.

You might do a search on ebay-if you can live with some changes to the mounting method. That is where I found a plate to allow mounting a coil to the firewall
