Good to hear of your progress, Don. And frustration...believe me, we've all been there. I doubt the "business" that painted your car told you it would be that long. Many of us have been put on the back burner for whatever reason and still felt burnt. You know Eric's car was in a shop for nearly two years for a convertible top...unbelievable. We all have stories.

I have a body/restoration shop that I have dealt with in Dallas that welcomes restoration BUSINESS. Car comes in, car gets worked on until finished. Period. NO delays, NO BS.

Especially as his crash business is slow due to the current economy, if there is anyone out there that wants their car worked on by a professionally run restoration BUSINESS, send me a private message and I'll put you in touch. Twenty-odd tenured professional employees...etc.
PS the owner has 2 Packards, restored at his Business.

Well it's time I updated my blog. It's been 5 years since I last posted. Don B has a companion 1937 1090 138CD Limo. There might be a little confusion with us having the same model car and same first name. We have met and have used the same mechanic in Maize Kansas before. Here is what I have done in the last 5 years to the car.

Engine and frame was restored after the guy said the frame was unmolested. When I got the car from Seattle it had a 454 chevy engine and a front subframe swap. I self-donated a 1937 1092 car engine and frame to take it back to original. My mechanic in Maize converted the stock 3 speed trans to a 1954 Packard overdrive. converting that trans to a cane shift from a column shift.

Car has been painted. My Painters horror story was told it would be done in 6 weeks. Took the guy 3 years, 2 months, and 2 weeks. During covid and towards the end it was a rush job.

New parts purchased:

1. New Julians soft top kit (has since discontinued supplying these)
2. Bought6 reproduction Hub caps and 6 trim rings
3. All new door and window rubber (except the rear quarter window rubber which is not available.
4. Had the grille shutter thermostat rebuilt in Ohio
5. Wood Re wood grained the dash and window frames
6. All 4 wheels brakes redone
7. All new wiring harnesses installed

What's left?

The interior will be done by a man in Iuka Mississippi He has done an interior for my 1968 Ford F100 Ranger and is completing an interior for my 1967 Rebel convertible currently.

1936 and 1937 120's Are what we like best. But we also like all other Packards too.

Looks good, Don.

Regarding the rear quarter window rubber. I’ll let you know how mine turns out, but my plan is that I bought two sets of rear quarter rubber for a 120. I believe I can splice them together to make one set for the 138CD.

It’s still a little TBD, but when we took a look at the new rubber with the car, it looks very promising. Stay tuned!
