I received my fuel pump rebuild kit. Any tips or a link to a factory service manual would be helpful.

It's in the Lit Archive here:packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/archi ... php?catID=10&cat_pid=56&ContentID=4

Then and Now also has a YT channel, just browse until you see a pump similar to yours:youtube.com/channel/UCN2Po9ryJaDU0wFQ9yXKU8g/videos

Edit: Wow, a lot of people hitting the forums at once!

Thank you all for the links and replies so far. Sorry if this is elementary. Your support is appreciated.

I finished draining the fuel. More sediment present. Tank is dropped. Straps, tank, and sending unit all appear to be restorable. Tank has rust inside. I'm going to remove the inline fuel filter I saw under the car next and get a replacement.

The tank assembly arrives tomorrow along with most of the other parts. The only thing that will be arriving late that I don't think I'll likely need is the carb rebuild kit on Friday.

I would remove the under-car fuel filter entirely along with any inline electric pumps that someone may had added and put in the metal filter with glass bowl at the carburetor as it would have come from the factory. If you already have the glass bowl filter at the carburetor, then clean/replace it's filter element.

No electric pump found. Inline filter underneath is pictured. I'll need to replace it with another as the line is cut and I'd rather not replace unless necessary.

Glass filter present under hood. Replacement on hand.

Just replace the inline under-car filter with a section of fuel line. Far better than having a filter hidden away where it's difficult to access.

You should never have an inline filter before the pump. The priming time will be insane.

Delete that filter and just keep the carb filter. As long as the gas doesn't have visible particles coming out of the tank, it won't hurt the fuel pump.

Sediment present in the fuel tank. Corrosion in the tank. I'm guessing the inline filter was added to prolong use of the current tank. I have a new tank arriving tomorrow so I'll take your advice and replace the fuel filter with fuel line.

Should I remove the fuel pump and begin rebuilding or should I try to see if I get fuel with new tank and lines?

That tank isn't the worst I've seen, but it's not good. All those particles will find their way into the fuel system. Glad you are replacing the tank....with the new one you won't need to worry about it again.

If it were me I would go ahead and rebuild the fuel pump. You don't know the history of it. If the rubber is old or wasn't made to handle modern fuel then the diaphragm might tear and you'll get fuel into the crankcase. Better to just rebuild it. I know it might seem daunting the first time you do it, but it's really not as bad as it looks. When it's done you'll have a good and reliable fuel pump and you'll have learned a new skill. Don't worry about making it pretty, just clean it up the best you can and put all the new parts in.
