Good news is I see no better way to do it than the advice I already gave. Install it, get the lines in place to set the angle of the V-tee and mark with Sharpie. Remove, tighten the V-tee, then get it back in and connect the lines.

The unit and floor plate are to be removed as an assembly. Disconnect the gas pedal, obviously tie the brake pedal out of the way, and pull back the floor carpet from the front left corner to the gas pedal mount. The plate extends slightly under the firewall carpet, but no removal is required. Slide up steering column boot. When done, adhere carpet with landau adhesive.

What I did when installing my Treadlevac unit was to do it unfastened from the floor plate, sitting on the frame roughly in position it was going to be and used blocking and padding as needed for support and to tilt it to the approximate angle. I could then work thru the floor opening from inside the car to hook up the tubing and get tubes and block snug but not tight. Once tubes were started then I mounted the unit to the floorplate and bolted that to the floor. It was then just a matter of reaching over and removing the support items and tightening connections instead of trying to do everything standing on my head.

CarFreak texted me today complaining of an oil leak from the lid bolt on the oil filter. Apparently had a copper washer on his. Realized I never looked at mine.

Should be a #111 O-ring, part # 450310. I added it to the parts X-ref.

Compare the old and new...

Going back about 50 years, thought it was fiber. Something was hard.

But I've used copper for over 50 years and no leaks.

Dang, do I try rubber.

It was probably fiber originally, but considering the lid has a dimple and the bolt is flat, it seems perfect for an O-ring.
