Yep. I'm prepared to say that the ideal diameter for these is .6325". Even got #16 (with some struggle... impossible to get a full hammer strike back there). Now to wait on three guides that I broke. Sigh, glad it's getting there. Wish I would've done this sooner. Oh well, the deed is done. Next will be reaming, lapping, check for valve clearance (new intake/exhaust valves came today from Kanter today), install new hydraulic lifters, reassemble the valve train. Oh, and a whooooole lot of cleaning. Thanks, all, for the encouragement.

With hydraulic lifters, there is still valve adjustment to do which takes a special gauge. It is done before the lifters themselves have been installed as the gauge goes in in place of the lifter with the cam for that lifter being all the down, one by one, grinding the valve stem or seat as needed to obtain the proper clearance using the gauge.
