I haven't had to go looking for a radiator cap for my 53 Cavalier, but it does have a 1" filler neck as well. When I look at a couple of the radiator caps on the cross-reference list for a 53 they are for a 3/4" neck. Maybe something that should be reviewed and updated, unless some 53's did have a 3/4" neck. Max Merritt lists a radiator cap for $50. Ouch!

A RC-6 is a 13lb cap. The specs show a cap depth of 24.4mm which .961 inches.

I looked at that as well, but the filler neck height is shown as 19.5 mm or 3/4". I think 24.4 mm is the total cap height. partshawk.com/acdelco-rc6-radiator-cap.html

As an update, I was able to locate a 13 lb cap for my 1953 that is the correct depth to reach the bottom of the filler neck. Here are some comments on that cap:
- Sold by the U.K. by complete-radiator-supplies, on U.S. eBay, under the title 13 lb Long Reach Radiator Cap / Pressure Cap / Expansion Tank Cap. - Stainless Steel - Shipping is expensive, more than the price for the cap. But it works. - It does say "made in England" in small letters, if that's an issue for your restoration. - I did have to file the cap tangs just a tiny bit to get it to install easier. - Installed, it is rotated 90 degrees from what is shown in Packard service photos, at least on my car anyway.
