Interior is looking good! I'm waiting for my fabric from SMS for my Cavalier..... They were running it for the second time this past week, still waiting to hear the news.

Thanks fellas! Still waiting for the car to go to the body shop though.

Bought a buffing wheel at an estate auction a while back, built a stand for it and started cleaning & polishing the stainless trim & grille. Happy with the results so far

Question about the fabric under the dash screen. is it white? or was it once grey?

Neither. Max Merritt carries it. It's a metallic cloth that was typically silver on cars with a silver mesh and gold on cars with the gold mesh. However, many like to use the silver under the gold which apparently makes it "pop" whatever the term means. The mesh on your dash should be gold and it's a very simple, inexpensive process. I had one done a while back for $75 and it was done in minutes while I waited.

Mine was darkish but cannot say it was a definite gray. I would think it should be a darker fabric or at least some shade close to the screen color because a very white or light color fabric would show thru the perforations in the screen and be very noticeable. To my eye, that would be quite objectionable.

This was done a year or so ago in Silicon Valley (Santa Clara, CA) where everything is expensive! It’s an electro process but not plating so should be cheap wherever you are if you can find a shop that does it. I don't know what the process is called but it required a quick acid dip which worried me bit they tested a tiny corner first with no harm.

The grill for my speaker, which doesn't have fabric I spray painted gold.

In one of my other lives, I do window coverings and I wonder if there would be a fabric that would match yours well? It would lay nice and flat and wouldn't fade. Post a close up of the fabric in the least faded spot and I'll see what there is.

As far as colours go, I would do whatever Packard did.

I love how well the stainless trim cleans up! What colour/s of compound are you using with your buffer? After polishing I've been giving my trim and chrome a quick once over with Autosol, which brightens it up even a bit more.

the dash cloth almost looks like a burlap?? your offer of sourcing something similar would be appreciated & helpful

for buffing the stainless, I start with a black emery on a sisal wheel, then switch to the green polishing compound on a loose sewn wheel. I use a white compound for any chrome plated, the green would suffice but the white seems to brighten it up more. these were sourced from our local KMS tools.
