This fender is going to take some time to get smooth again. Just this section of the left fender is peppered with countless shallow dents.

After about an hour, I managed to get the front top third of the damaged area pretty massaged out. That was using a hammer and dolly, a slapping file with a dolly, and a bullseye pic in a few spots.

It will probably need at least another two hours to finish, and I am sure some areas will need to be heat-shrunk. But my wrist said that was enough for tonight.

Managed to get nearly all the damage worked out, then rest is the job of high build primer, and perhaps a little spot filler. At some point you have to know when to stop.

There was alot of damage at lower front edge, which is fairly common. So that took awhile to reshape and level.

Any way, here is the fender right after the 2nd coat of epoxy base primer.

Next fender I'll paint the underside first, let that dry and then shoot the outside. Trying to do it all once was a pain, and lead to a run on the bottom where it was hard to reach on that paint stand.

Hi Jess,

Yes, it's part of the convertible top assembly!

If you scroll back about a year or more in my blog, you'll see I have the entire top assembly put back together. The convertible top fabric won't go back on the car until after it's painted.

Tomorrow the temp is supposed to drop even more. So today was the day to finsihing shooting the primer on the front fenders while the garage temp was still in the 60s.

Only sheet metal left to strip and prime is the hood. But, that is for another day.

The rebuilser has had some health issues which has him backed up. So I am next in line. He has a Packard in line before me. At this point he just needs to reassemble the Jag motor and do the run in.
