Yesterday and today, I got to work on the intake/exhaust manifold flange, enlarging the holes to match the ports on the engine. When I had my friend drill out the holes to get me started, I had him make them a little small so I could port match the flange to the engine. I should have had him make them a little bit bigger, as I have to enlarge each and every one of them about 1/4". This wouldn't be so bad, except that it takes over an hour and a half on each hole to get them the same size and shape as the ports on the engine. It took me two days of grinding to do four ports, simply because my back starts cramping up after 3-4 hours of grinding. So, even though it's slow progress, I'm making headway and am currently 1/3 done. So, on to the pics!

Here's a few pics of the pipe for the intake port that will handle 1 SU 1 & 3/4" carb, there will be four of these. I will build an air box to go over all four of these, and then the turbos will blow into the air box, so after LOTS of research and studying, I've decided to go blow through with the turbos and use 4 SU carbs. Fun Fun!

Didn't get any work done on the Speedster today, but I got two Ultramatics cleaned up and ready to be shipped to Australia. After doing all this, I've decided that from now on, when someone needs me to clean a transmission, I will be charging $100 for the trouble. I will not be doing this service for free anymore, it's a LOT more work than I thought it would be! See pics:

And after cleaning:

Pics are too big to upload and I'm too tired to resize, so there's a link.

Eric,

I'm sure Wayne will be very very pleased with your clean up job on the T/Ultra's. They look better than new!
Better have a to recover.

I just hope they're clean enough, I don't know how anal-retentive Australian Customs is.

I'm sure the T/Ultra's are clean enough. Your hands however would never make it through, as my eldest granddaughter kept repeating when she saw the pic "he's got dirty hands".

Didn't get much done so far this weekend, went to my cousin's wedding. Got to dress up in my suit though, and had to have the obligatory hat to go with it:

A nice surprise when I got home was another pair of HS6's, so now I have all four carbs. So, I decided to do some more grinding on the flange, now I'm down to 3 holes to go! Here's a pic of all four carbs in their respective positions on top of the head:
