look at image number 454 at the mid point of this page....can you tell me if that dust boot is supposed to be on there or not? i now that the metal plate covers that hole up and the attachment point sticks out of the that metal plate, but i can't remember if there is supposed to be a dust boot on there too....i wanna say no.

thanks for the post guys, funds at home have had to go elsewhere for now, so there was no point to working on the car per say. i can't really do much, so i am trying to space it out and pace myself, so i took off some time from the car

Hank,
Glad to see you back in the garage. By the way, that's quite a collection of "wall warts" and plugs that you have there (picture IMG_0658.jpg)! Reminds me of the light switch scene in Christmas Vacation.......

yeah they gave me like 2 plugs in the whole garage that are reach able, so that is what i had to do....the good thing is i don't run everything at the same time. if i run the old ass tube radio and the air compressor....gotta go to the breaker box and reset it. LOL! so i have to pick and choose my toys sometimes.

p.s. that movie is HILARIOUS!

little bit of a weekend update for you guys. yes,...i actually worked on the car LOL!

worked on getting the steering bits painted up so i could mount them together. there are still some small piece to put together. if anyone is looking for another alternative to the eastwood silver cad......check out the rustoleum product i bought.....looks identical, drys way faster, and cost 1/2 as much at least, plus it was at Wally World ;0) and what town doesn't have a Wally World these days. my town has one of the top 10 in the nation...crazy...

anyways, fathers day was eventful too. i loaded up the Packard to go show my grandfather. i Picked up my dad and mom and we all went out to the gravesite. we got pictures of me, my dad, my son, and what physical form there is of my grandfather.....the headstone. so 4 generations in one picture. my father wasn't expecting it and although it was sad it was a happy time too. we had not been out there since Henry V was born. i also got to bring the Packard along with me ;0) Thanks to my good Friend Jerry for the trailer! We love you dude!

then it was off to reproduce an old picture that was taken when i was Henry V's age. i think you guys have seen it. anyways, we unloaded the Packard and pushed in front of the abandoned Packard Dealership off 7th street in Fort Worth. pulled it right up to the old show room floor door. which is not functional anymore, but you tell it was there once before. we took some pics and it was awesome! just like taking delivery of a brand new Packard in 1955 ;o), just in pieces LOL! i will go get the other pieces as the dealer gets them in. HAHA!

also as you can see i added some goodies to my truck....i am blind as a bat at night on the country roads.

anyways, enjoy the photos.

Hank

edited the above post because i found that bolt....it was there they whole time..i was just blind i guess. LOL!!

tonight i just painted more stuff and put things together to get ready for the last few pieces.

does anyone have a castle nut that is the same as the ones on the front suspension. i ruined one of mine back when i was taking everything apart. i would like an original style if possible. TIA if you have one. it is the one that will hold my steering to the pitman arm.

i adjusted the tie rod arms as well as i could by eye, its not perfect, but they are decently straight now.

enjoy,

Hank

none of the local auto stores had an oil seal similar to the one i need.....so any other ideas???

i did get the material to make my own gasket, which saved me about 7 dollars.

later,

Hank

finished up the suspension. just missing that nut that goes on the pitman arm to the valve assembly, but i will find one i am sure.

you can see why that one bolt has 2 washers....to straighten out the steering box. got the lines all straightened out and not interfering with stuff lock to lock. filled with 75w90 and it holds fine.

i used the original oil seal, it was fine. cut my own seal for the top piece too. nice ;0)

later,

Hank
