I don't know about anyone else, but I'd drive it just like it is.

"incorrect factory restoration" or something of that nature would have been more 'gentlemanly' rather than saying 'most distasteful'.
I'm sure OWen or other PAC members could derive proper nomenclature to make it gentlemanly.

There's nothing wrong with his opinion so lets move on.
Lets not get all nit-pickey and passive aggressive about the forum rules. That just gets old and tiring quick.

I think you are correct. The restoration on that Packard is just plain wrong. And my spelling of plain was just plain wrong, also.

West: The car in the photo below is a 640 Custom Runabout not a touring. I refer you to page 283 upper picture in the Kimes Packard book.

First, you're correct that the car you refer to in Kime's book is a 640 custom runabout.
Second, you're incorrect in thinking it's the same type of car as the silly-looking roadster that's been brought to this thread. That silly-looking roadster is a 1930 Model 740. Third, I was identifying the car in the original post, which is a 640 seven-passenger touring. The seven-passenger tourings are identified by those carriage-type door handles.

West: On my part I thought you were referring to the car in Mals original post in this thread since that was the picture you posted. Your last posting clears that up and I stand corrected.
I must also say that I was some what blind sided and angered by your remarks concerning the 745. That car may not be totally correct but I don't think that you should not be so critical of the car. It seems that people in your circle of folks demand that a car be restored to 100 percent correctness. If the car falls short then it tends to get trashed and the mistakes get pointed out big time.
