it is not a 56 400 like my failed memory thought it was.....it is actually a 1955 Packard Clipper Custom 4 door. in what looks like rose quartz/white.

see pic. (sorry for the crappy pics) i got this in a bundle of Packard stuff last night for Christmas from my Aunt.

sorry for the misinformation, but i was young the last time i saw it.

so, i updated my sig to reflect this change and if anyone knows where this car is, please let me know. it was reported to have gone to PA, but i am not sure.

i guess i could be wrong on the color, cause i though only the Caribbean had the Rose Quatz, but that sure does look close to it to me in the pic.

in the pic there is also a bumper sticker dead center on the back bumper, but i don't know what it says, and i don't see a license plate either.

my father tells me this car was never painted, so we believe it to be a factory combination.

thanks,

Hank

'50s colors became very "out" in the decades that followed, so it wouldn't be too surprising if the Rose Quartz had been repainted with a different color, which could make tracing it a bit more difficult. I've seen several turquoise and other vibrant colored cars that were redone in more sedate colors.

it also looks like there is an accessory antenna coming from the back fender.....maybe a CB was installed or something.

Might check out the 55 dealer album for possibilities.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.article.php?174
Could also be fire opal with a slim possibility of sardonyx instead of the rose. Opal & white was a standard two tone combination whereas the quartz was supposedly a Caribbean accent color only. Having said that though, there used to be a quartz and white 400 here in town, and believe me, that was pink! Could see it coming a block away. Didn't think, care or know enough to check tag when car around to see if original--but don't think so based on vaguely remembered conversations. Hard to say about the CB antenna-- although that was the rage in the time period picture was taken.

yeah i was thinking sardonyx too, but wasn't sure. it looked too pink, but it could be faded from time.

here are some better pics. it also appears to have rear a/c. and it looks like a dealer tag on the bottom left of the rear of the car.

this car shouldn't be too hard to find then.

Rose Quartz was bright, like pink lipstick, but don't confuse that with the bright red of Fire Opal which was also used in one of the four standard tri-tone schemes on Caribbeans, as well as two-tones available on other Packards and Clippers for '55.

If the colors of the taillights on that car and the brick facade of the house are accurate, I'd say the lower color of this Clipper is Sardonyx. I've seen White Jade over Sardonyx two-tones on a couple of '55 400s, and the colors look just like this Clipper.

The lower color on the Clipper looks quite similar to some of the shades of reds that appear in online images of the sardonyx gemstone.

I think BH is right. Not enough red for opal or pink for quartz. I played with an image and by only making the grass greener, it changed the car color so it looks extremely close to the sardonyx chip.

I notice that this is an early 55, without the added white "blob" behind the front wheel that Packard added so the clipper would not have the same two-tone layout as the Pontiac. I always thought the earlier version was much better looking.
