Just wanted to say Thank You to all for the help provided in getting my 1949 Deluxe Touring 8 running again for the first time since 1959! No one else will appreciate my excitement more than all of you. Now where can I get a muffler for her for less than $180?

Summit Racing has stainless steel glasspacks for about half that. That's what I'm putting on my '48.

bumper to bumper carries 2 1/2 inch red hots (glasspack) for 25 clams a piece. as i haven't got them on yet i'm thinking of just leaving open headers on mine cuz i dig the "obnoxious luxury car" idea. most folks render a packard as a prestigious vehicle, but i prefer the more beastly side.

If it wasn't for those meddling kids, and their dog too...

1952 200 deluxe touring- its a goer...but not a stopper. Just ask my neighbour about her flower bed.

More and more I'm thinking a Flowmaster might be a better choice. More expensive, but probably well worth it. Even then, it's still cheaper than $180.

Why not just take it to a muffler shop for a stock type muffler and resonator? It will not be identical to stock but who will know the difference? Except your wallet.

Just dig a muffler from a dumpster somewhere. Sometimes get one nearly new. They're free too.
