Well thats the problem the rubber is all gone. But there are staple holes along one edge on the central splash pan (under the radiator core). So I am assuming there was a piece of rubber material stapled to it probably to reduce vibration.

I think the filler panel between the truck and bumper has a similar material stapled to it.

Also I need to replace all the rubber seals that go between the speed nuts and the posts on the fender moulding clips. Basically they are just a thin rubber discs with a small hole in the middle that seals the back side of the fender where the moulding mounting holes are. The old seals are roasted.

Orchard has various sizes neoprene washers in the misc hardware section. On the edging, Steele has a couple of possibilities in the first and third pictures with the masticated sheet probably the closest to what was there. Restoration Specialty in the second photo has rubber strips and also the masticated sheet. McMaster Carr has several possibilities if you search rubber edging & also have rubber washers in just about any size needed.

I used that masticated sheet and made staples from SS wire which went back thru the original holes. I made the staples from the stainless wire on the chinese take-out cartons. Did I mention i was cheap?

Remind me not to go to the Paint Supply store with a C-Note in my pocket!

Ended up buying some more supplies: mixing cups, filters, body napkins, degreaser, etc. I also bought some low-gloss black to spray the inner fenders with. This is a 2-part single stage urethane. I also needed the activator for it.

Just though I would pass this along folks for people looking for a Tach/Dwell meter. I was looking at a stand alone tach/dwell meter and even got out bid several times on eBay for an old school Sun Pro one.

But after doing some searching I came across this until. It's basically a full featured multimeter (voltage, amps, ohms, continuity check), but also has settings for measuring RPM (4/6/8 cyl), and also Dwell. As well as being able to do Diode checks. So basically a until no bigger that a multimeter that does it all. Perfect for doing any type of electrical diagnostics on our Packards.

It comes with a nice sized manual that covers all the tests (electronic, and points ignition), leads, alligator clip adapters, and has a rugged rubber sleeve that covers it.

You can get these off of Amazon for $36. Sears wants $59.99 for them.
