Yup, looks like I have neither of the those tools or pieces. They disappeared a long time ago.

It's hard to see in the picture, but the main shaft of the jack looks like it has 3 points coming out of the center like this?

Never seen one like that before. My car came with a jack, but the shaft is a triangle /_\. I was hoping it was an original, but I guess not.

A couple of quick things in the garage tonight. First I got the inner access panel reattached to the inside of the passenger side fender.

The I reattached the fender skirts. I had to straighten the lips on both skirt to get the pins to align correctly. I also had to straighten the front part of the lip on the passenger side quarter panel wheel well as it was pushed in and the forward pin on the skirt kept popping out of the hole.

I also put the wheel covers on the car. I may need to adjust the little teeth on the covers as they are too tight. You have to almost use a rubber mallet to get the covers on. That can't be right.

mine were alittle tight getting them on too, maybe that is normal....idk.

My 56's are also tight and does need a rubber mallet. Not sure I'd want to loosen them too much or might pop off with any wheel flex or potholes.

I guess the question for me is how hard should they be to get on? They are fitting so tight that when I get some side of the cover on, the other side pops off. Once you get them finally on, you have to really pry to get them off. I can just really see them getting dinged up pretty quickly with so much effort needed to seat and unseat them.

Should you be able to seat them by hand?

if i remember right, i had to get one side on and the pop the other side pretty good and usually with my foot. my hand force would just make the other side i was holding pop out.

i ended up using a rubber mallet on the rest after that.

From what you describe, they seem like they are right. My car is also tight. I use the foot method. You might have to keep a screwdriver or find a bar with a chisel point on it for the jack to remove them in an emergency. Not great for the rims or chrome, but hopefully you won't have to take them off very often. Better than having them pop off while driving.

Nothing wrong with using a rubber mallet. What I used to put the wheel covers back on the Derham when I photographed it for eBay. You can also use a rawhide mallet (which are also used for wire wheel knockoffs). I still have the rubber mallet my father used way back when to put wheel covers on.

That's also where I learned to swear and heard my first obscenities. Thrilling and Priceless.
