I got a quote from Hogerty and it works out to be about $11 a month based on a value of $5000 for their standard full coverage policy.

So not to bad. I make just go with them. To just add the Packard onto my existing policy with liability was more.

Door #3 was the correct choice.

VIN Verifier came this morning, and 10 mins later I had the signed paperwork from him. With that in hand I ran down to AAA and was able to get the car registered and titled. $69 for the registration and $45 for title paperwork fees. Left the office with a set of new license plates, a registration slip and a tag for the plates. Official title will arrive in the mail. Took about 15 mins.

Congrats, Kev!

Thanks Doug. Car is finally back on the grid since you last registered it in 1986. They actually used your last registration slip from 1986 as the supporting documentation.

Thanks again for you assistance with the paper work.

Kevin, I have my Packards insured with Hagerty. I have only had to use their towing once. I called the 800 number, explained my need, and about one-hour later a flat-bed tow truck arrived and loaded the '37. This was when the distributor failed about 5 miles from home. You never know how good your insurance is until you use it. I recommend Hagerty.

I do too Kevin. I have had a really good experience with Haggerty. Both my old cars are with them. Each additional car, by the way is really cheap to add!! See you can have a car COLLECTION!

Well managed to get several things done today that have been on the immediate list to get completed. (pictures in order)

First was to get the throttle cross-shaft replaced. When I was doing some Klack investigation about 2 weeks ago, the throttle arm broke on the cross-shaft. It was previously broken and welded to fix. But whomever welded it didn't do that great of a job, and it broken again. So I just ended up buying a replacement, and I will reweld the old one and keep it as a spare since in is a Gear-start only part.

With the cross-shaft replaced, and the all the linkage hooked back up, I moved onto the next task, replacing the fuel filter.

I am still being dogged with crud that is coming out of the fuel tank. The ethanol in the modern fuel is really doing a good job at cleaning out all the stuck on muck in my gas tank that 3 rounds of muriatic acid didn't break free.

But that is cause the compact fuel filter I was using back my the tank to get clogged every time the car was driven. So I bought a FRAM disposable filter that has much more surface area hoping this would extend my driving range. But before I could install that filter I received this 3rd filter in the mail from Jim. Talk about surface area!! Jim can fill in the details, but this is some type of aviation certified filter. It massive and cant see it clogging for a long time with all that surface area.

With that done and the car back on the ground... I moved on to removing the brackets from the rear bumper. Two of the bolts were completely rounded off from someone previously and there was nothing to grab hold of. Since all the oval bolts were dented up and bad anyway, I just used a grinder to grind off the heads of those two bolts.

With that, the bumper went up on a set of saw horses so I could removed the jack dents, and clean it up. I had to use a bench vise and a large hammer to press out one the biggest dents. A hydraulic press would have made this easy work. Then the back side of the bumper was derusted with a wire wheel, and painted with black frame paint.

After a cursory cleaning of the front side of the bumper with some Simple Green and a rag to remove dirty, I went over the bumper with some 000 steel wool, and then used a little bit of chrome polish. Show quality it isn't, but it will do nicely for now.

Next I need to look at the carb as it never seams to go into fast idle anymore. So I think there is a problem in the choke control area.

Simple Green, 000 Steel Wool, and finished with a little chrome polish, and buffed it with a cotton polishing cloth.
