Tom, I don't know about 1931, but in 1934 white sidewall were available at extra cost on the Eight and Super 8, and at no extra cost on the Twelve. Tire brands used by Packard in 1934 were Firestone, GoodYear, Goodrich, and U.S. This information is contained in the 1934 Salesman's Data Book, sorry I don't have one for 1931.
Though I'd not put radials on a bona fide Classic, Diamondbacks are a great choice if that's what one wants. No matter what you put on, people should confirm that the load rating of the proposed tire is adequate for the car's weight and anticipated passengers, etc. The original tires in 1934 were 6 ply because the cars were heavy, I have used Lesters on my 34 for a long time, they are 6-ply rated and have a load capacity of 1632 pounds per tire, about right for a 5000 pound car and cargo.

Sorry, I just got back with time to answer your post.I have both 700 X 15 and a set of 750 X 15. They are both wide white.
Again I find that the tires do not roll over on tight corners so the car feels more stable cornering. I had tried to over inflate the bias tire to keep the roll down. It didn't help much. Good luck. I think you'll like them.

As in above thread my DB tires have arrived and put on car. What an improvement in ride and steering. Also installed a set of Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks, car no longer "floats" but nice firm but comfortable feel. The Monroe numbers are, front-37096 ST and rear-37147 ST. Only minor mods to rear lower shoch mount needed but worth the trouble. Have 4 BF Goodrich Silvertowns 760X15 bias-ply with about 90% tread, 2 3/4" WW and no age cracks for sale, $200.00 for set plus shipping from Louisiana.

I have a set on my Series 23 Touring sedan and I like them very much. The best thing about these tires is they look authentic and also handle like a radial. They are well worth it.

I just completed my 47 Custom Super Clipper in July.
I used the DB 7.00 x 15 Yokahamma LT Radial with the widest WW plus Beauty Ring. They had just brought the tire out when I ordered them. I have less than 50 Miles on the car. Now all the cars are put away for the season. ( I live in Northern Minnesota and we get cold weather and snow) Tires drive very well. They look great. They handle and brake great. Very satisfied with the tires. Really like radial tires. Have a set of DB 2.5 inch WW 15 inch Wire Rim on my 61 Chrysler 300 G for 8 years. Very satisfied with looks, ride, handling, braking. When I ordered them from DB, I had to cross my heart and promise not to use anything but Simple Green to clean the white walls. The Simple Green has done a super job on the WW's. I have used radials on my 54 Clipper for 20 years. Second set of Cokers. The radial tires perform so much better the bias Ply tires that the car had on It when I bought it.
