The build sheet on my 1947 Super Clipper reads;
417 2172 D 10671 EMC OD UND 56

"417" ?
"2172"- 4-door touring sedan
"D" Paint-Atlantic Blue Metallic
"10671" same as data plate build sequence number
"EMC" Electromatic Clutch
"OD" Overdrive
"UND" Underseat heater- Defroster?
"56" ?
Any help or confirmation appreciated.

Does your car have or show any evidence of ever having had an underseat heater? My '48 has dual heaters under the back seat with a multi-speed fan switch.

In my limited experience with these "build sheets", the last number in the data string refers to the interior trim package. I only have access to the trim codes for 1948-1956, but the number 56 in the 22nd series would indicate GRAY BROADCLOTH WITH GREEN AND RED STRIPE. I'm not sure if this would have been the same in the 21st series, but it might have been. If you have the original interior and it matches that description, than maybe it did apply in 1947, or maybe you have a source for the 1947 trim codes?

Thanks. Yes, it's a cropped shot of the '41 Limo's front end. I Photoshopped out the background and replaced it with black. I need to re-do it though 'cause I accidentally nipped the glass wing with the cursor which makes it look like it's chipped.

Dan, Yes my car has the underseat heater under the drivers side and defroster up under the dash on the passenger side. the original seat material was a striped gray broadcloth so that would probably means that the "56" is the code. Thanks for the help!

I see that this post has gotten a lot of hits; I hope it was helpful to find out the pedigree of some of those orpan cars.

Ok, I am trying to see if the engine is original in my 47 clipper. There are several numbers between the body and the build sheet. Here is what I have:

Tag on cowl - 2112-16069
Engine head: 367635
Engine Block: F 323121
(Does this mean that the head has been changed since these numbers are different?)
Body number: 2112-15686
Scribed on the Cowl: 703965

Build Sheet: 2611 2112C 16069 EMC OD UUD RR 57
This looks like model 2112 number 16069 (matches the tag) Electromatic, overdrive, under seat heater.

Not sure on the RR or 57, maybe radio, then the interior trim.

Is there a way to tell if the engine is the original?

The engine number is correct for a 1947 Deluxe Clipper (2112). The last number in the series on the build slip is probably the trim code. The last number on my '50 build slip is definitely the trim code.

If you have checkered broadcloth, then 57 is the trim code.
