Buzz: Congrats on your new acquisition. I have the same model in Maroon and look forward to your restoration. It is a wonderful car to own, drive and enjoy. It that a Marvel Oiler next to the wiper motor? One suggestion: I added a second hood prop for the other side so I can open either side of the hood without having to flip the prop back over. Should be easy to find one, I think Motor City Packards sells them and the cost is very reasonable.

Thanks for the tip! I considered that as well. That is indeed a MMO System in the engine, too. Are you planning to be at the Galena meet next year?

I have completely gutted the whole interior of the car. The seats only had seat covers stapled on top of the original upholstery. I removed the covers to reveal not too awful seats. The driver's seat is the worst, with a few large tears in it. The back seat is in very good condition, however, with only a few very minor holes and cigar burns. After I took the covers off I put the back seats in the car again, just to see how they looked and felt. It was very comfortable really. The body underneath the carpet is ROCK SOLID. There is no rust WHATSOEVER! I was also wondering, if you look at the fourth picture, there is a tag. I don't know what it is, that one was under the front bench seat. All of the seats had one, though, even the backs. Thanks!

Way cool!! I like that striped fabric, seems like a lucky find to me... That center circular design on the seat tag looks like the current Mazda trademark to me!! Hmmmmm...

I have made some more progress on my car recently. Even though no one will even see it, I took the service panel off of the floor and I am currently cleaning the transmission. The parts of the tranny in the pictures that are their supposed color are what I've already cleaned (wish I took before and after pics.). The seat you see is what the driver's bench seat looks like (with flash, and without). I don't remember if I mentioned in my last post that that seat must have been re-stuffed (somewhat), but now I have, just in case.

That is one gorgeous interior and i'm jealous, even with just freshening up mine, i still lust after that one. I love the chrome on the steering wheel bars and door window moldings, mine are just stamped.

Cort, what do you mean "just stamped?" Do you mean the woodgraining around the windows? Jrbuzz, your Packard is looking good! I like the striped fabric very much, is it wool? The seats in my car are a tiny check, (I think) hadn't seen it in a while. They are scratchy as all get out, I guess because they are wool. I keep moth balls in the car to protect the seats, carpet and headliner. Keep up the good work! BTW, your color is super too, there was a Packard here in my little town that same color in the 1960's as I was growing up, it always got my admiring glance.

Bryan

I had an pretty original Eight. I thought it was stripes on Eights (2392) and Houndstooth with buttons on a Deluxe Eight (2362). The Deluxe also has embossing on the door panels and a robe strap and cigar lighter on the back of the front seat

Regards

John Harley
