That chromium-plated grille surround on the 38 Super Eight was apparently a legit option and seen occasionally though I've always thought it detracted significantly from the appearance of the car. But to each his own.

Dave, thank you for highlighting details. Your comments are that, what gives it that extra something or, as we say, the salt in the soup.

Last year, a couple of days before Christmas I flew to Moscow for business reasons. From Hamburg the flight duration is 2h 30 min. In record-breaking time I did what I had to do to save time for a visit of a new car museum, well-provided with everything. From what I'm told, there is a tremendous Packard on display, formerly owned by the Japanese crown.

But either I was too short in time or dazzled by all the chrome and lights, however, no Packards. To me, this museum is "too clean" or even "too antiseptic".

The power of a matchstick is destructive enough to reduce even bling bling to ashes. Maybe some of you will remember the story of an arson in Yekaterinburg (the former Sverdlovsk), a major city in the central part of Russia. Not only one of the rare ZIL's but addional a majestic 1938 Packard 1608 has been burnt to cinders.
Active support of car friends around the world, especially from USA enabled to bring the Packard back to life.

Its nice to see that Gerd has found and posted some of the known Estonian Packards from the old times.
Im not sure of this cars history but If you wish I might do a little research on that vehicle.
In my opinion those black licence plates fit the car perfect.

Steve, King Carol of Romania's 1937 Packard convertible has been for decades in Estonia. Now it is in a museum in Riga, Latvia. Our member Victor (56P400) is looking for detailed pictures. If you could find side views I kindly ask you to post them --> there. Thanks in advance.

I was not sure first when I saw the pictures if its really the same car Gerd described, but thank you for reminding me of this vehicle. Its rather unfortunate that its in Latvia not in Estonia anymore but It could be worse, maybe its for the best that it was both up by a museum, then letting it rot for year and then in the end recycling it to make new Hondas. Im happy it has not went this way.
