About 1/2 down thru post #1 above is pic: IMG_0919.jpg.
Note that the car has mirrors mounted to headlites. This type of mirror mounting came up about a year ago as a topic. THere seems to be somekind of embossed design on the mirro housing. I'm wondering what that design is. Looks like someking of an eagle or folliage design.

Bill,
Thanks for posting these wonderful pic's. Don't Packards look gorgeous! Quote: PackardV8 wrote: Keith, Left clicking on the image enlarges it. Couldn't see the eagles for the foliage! The design appears to be concentric circles to me. Attach file: (26.90 KB)

Great photos! Thanks for sharing. And great catch on the mirrors Keith. That caused me to go back and review the pictures in greater detail - expanded my appreciation of them.

PackardV8 wrote:About 1/2 down thru post #1 above is pic: IMG_0919.jpg. The owner, Dave Stewart, of the '25 Packard to which the mirrors are attached has been in contact with me. His advice regarding the mirrors is reproduced below, as well as the pic's he sent. ".....Saw the post about the photos of my mirrors at Galena. The mirrors are readily available for most any OLD car parts supplier such as Model T people. I bought two at Hershey because they were black instead of chrome or brass. The mounting was an old wrench that I liked the ends of, they looked like a banjo, cut it in two parts, extended and shaped, the welded the ball mount for the mirror to it. The circles that you see are just embossed into the back for support, nothing exotic....." ".....I am sending you three photos of my mirrors. The first is just a mirror back, you can see how the spoke wheel tightens to the cup for fastening, You can also see how I cut off the part that clamps to a windshield. The third shows how I made the bracket out of a plumbers wrench. Note the nice shape at the end, that is what enticed me in the first place. It is simple to take anything that you like the shape of and adapt it to a rod, heat and shape, weld to the ball end and !!!!, you have a neat mirror and mount, take the other half of the wrench and make another. I could not post the photos on the web site but maybe you can....." My view: Very inventive and impressive!
