got my garage cleaned up pretty much. got the tv mounted and the stereo hooked up to 5.1 and the dvd player and the computer for my Packard PDF files and my MP3 files to play through the stereo. got my direct tv reciever, but haven't called them to hook it up, so i just got regular tv pumping in. yes....i'm spoiled and totally nerdy. TV is a new LED 1080p 26" i got on super sale.
i got my parts back from the powder coating, but i'm not impressed by some of it. its going back for perfection. i'm not playing around with the parts that are visible to people looking. some parts a dead dog wouldn't accept. but, i have no doubts the place i go to will correct the problem. they have been good to me in the past and this is the first problem i have had so far. i'll update on that, but you get the idea from the pics as to look of what they will be like on the car. much better and will last longer then paint i would say. much more durable that's for sure. cost more...but i like it. since the parts are going back there probably wont be much going on this holiday on the Packard. but i did get the sand blast only parts back, so i'll be painting them engine color. threw the computer together with spare parts i had laying around. got some parts from Joel (packards1), including the knurled front seal holder. i also got a real parts manual for 10 bucks on ebay. i like to collect things like that if they are cheap enough and it was. its not perfect, but its good enough for me. enjoy Hank Attach file: (93.95 KB) (95.21 KB) (104.68 KB) (108.96 KB) (77.61 KB) (85.71 KB) (118.87 KB) (87.65 KB) (80.15 KB) (108.32 KB) (74.90 KB) (71.01 KB) (78.72 KB) (78.20 KB) (76.04 KB)

thanks! i hope i will have it in the frame before salado. then i just gotta figure out how to get it down there safely. its alittle more then just a frame this time around so i'm a bit nervous. an enclosed trailer would be perfect, but i dont' have that kinda money to even rent one like that, lol!
i took back some of the parts to the powdercoaters to have them redone. they are gonna take care of it for me. the breather had some bubbling on it from it not being cleaned well enough and them powdercoating over some of the sand grit. i really wanted them to powder it in a low gloss/satin....but i liked the high gloss look after i saw it and decided to accept that. its not 100% original i'm sure, but it'll look good i think. then again i doubt they used powdercoating back then either, but it'll last a heck of a lot longer then paint. and some said news about my chair...someone or thing decided to take a small chunk out of it where i sit at. its really small and just the top layer and can be fixed i'm sure, but i'm super awesome excited about it. why doesn't anything last....dang i only had it like 2 weeks. finally got my garage all squared away only to mess it up again. oh well.
i got me a real mans vise instead of that crappy chinese thing i was using and i finally got me a hose real for the air. i added about 3 4x8 sheets of plywood to my attic space above the garage to make more room up there and built another shelf in the garage to get crap off the floor and outa my way. ran a wire to my DTV box only to find out that i don't have a mutliplexer on the outside so i can't have a 5th output right now fromt he SAT. so i ordered one from ebay for 12 bucks....since DTV wanted 49 to come out and plug it in....no thanks jerks. i'll do it myself. i'm only doing this cause its only gonna be like 5 bucks to turn on that reciever a month. worth it to stop messing with my crappy free channels that never seem to come in right. plus i'll get SPEED in the garage now. i primed my intake manifold (2000 degree engine paint in flat that stops rust too). then i used my small detail HVLP that i bought about 2 years ago when they had them cheap at Lowes. worked pretty good i must say. it was my first time with the gun so you can see some air waves in parts of the paint till i got the gun dialed in right and the air flow right. 45psi seemed to be best for this gun, even though it says 40 (could be air tank meter is off). gotta call the powdercoaters to see if they finished redoing my parts that i didn't like. had to take apart my washer too....transmission bearing making noise and wont spin sometimes. parts ordered. and word to the wise...i stirred and stirred that Bill Hirsh Packard paint till i was blue in the face and all i can say....DO NOT SPONGE IT ON....it looked like crap, so i broke out the spray gun....WAY BETTER! i only used about 7 oz of paint on the intake manifold vs way more sponging/brushing and looks way better as it mixed the pigment better spraying. anyways enough talking and more pic looking. Looking good. If you run out of things to do you can come straighten out my garage.
Curious about the manifold color. Maybe I missed something in your blog but on my monitor it looks more green -- maybe like the 56 Clipper green or is that what the 5560 Clipper Custom blue looked like.

i'm not sure, but the paint is for 55 clipper according to Bill Hirsch.
it isn't that bad in person....and this was right after i had painted it, so it had dried and settled in since then. when opened the can of paint....i would have never thought it would have turned out that color. the paint was very crazy looking in the can, but sprayed good. this morning....looking at it....it looks like the normal 55 color to me. Amazing what a little bit of lighting and camera angle will do to color. 3 different shades is what I was seeing compared to your original. The last one looks like a pretty good match.

the one that is the closest match is the dry version. the other was still sticky wet. you can see i still had the painters tape on it on the top picture. plus it was under a fluorescent light, so probaby was the camera.
