Dick's Classic Garage

On New Year's Eve day my brother and I drove from Austin to San Marcos to visit Dick's Classic Garage (120 Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos, TX 78666, 512-878-2406, www.dicksclassicgarage.org).

It was built by Dick Burick, who also has a large museum in rural Rosanky. The Classic Garage is a new auto museum facility with large display galleries, a conference center and museum store. Automobiles on display cover 30 years from 1929 to 1959 and are grouped by age with pre-war, post-war, and 1950s galleries.

The pre-war gallery is made-up mostly of 1920s and 30s classics. There is an impressive display of five Dusenbergs. Auburn, Cadillac, Cord, Marmon, Packard, and other classic marques are also represented. Not to be missed is a special Tucker exhibit with engine, showroom banner, and literature.

There are seven Packards in the Garage, and I have attached photos of each. It is an impressive museum and I recommend it when you are visiting Central Texas.

I believe the 1955 400 used to be my car. I bought it from the original owner in 1975. It has the patent leather and broucade interior.

Here is the information label on the 400. It is advertised as an unrestored car. It is a very attractive Packard.

Very odd way to spell "Nance"
Even with folks who like cars, there is a lot of misinformation.
The car is gorgeous!

And the 55 has one of the rarest of options, the faux wire wheel hub shell covers.

The car I had was sold at the Minneapolis national meet I believe in 1976. The last owner is a Texan and offered to sell it back to me a few years back. This car may be a twin to my old one. Mine also had the fake wire wheel covers.
