thanks for the info. i already pulled the trigger on the 1/16 thick material. it can't make that much difference i'm sure and it may last a bit longer. but we will see.

it was 10 bucks for the material, more then i will need, so right now i'm just trying to save the money. rebuilding at max and places like that are 7-9 fold that price.

Hope you are right but for something calibrated with shims and springs, would expect the flexibility and thickness of the material might come into play.

after years and years of use, the old material was pretty flimsy. i'm guessing it was much stronger when new.

the spring is probably not like new either, so odds of getting it just perfect even with the right thickness of material is pretty iffy even. i doubt the original material is neoprene. so even if it was 1/32 neoprene i used...still may not be right.

so the way i see it....for the price...i hope it works.

the spring on mine didn't have shims, just the sealing gasket around the part that unscrews where the vacuum line connects.

even if i rebuild it i wont know if it works right till i get to start the motor one day. same as my trans...i have no idea if it will even shift right. no clue. just doing it all myself and hoping for the best.

have a great day Howard and thanks for looking at the blog!

Hank

got the filler tube hooked up for the transmission. and after a battle got one side of the sway bar hooked on finally. it isn't pretty and i had to paint again to cover up the battle wounds the car recieved, but its on there. nevermind all the dust and dirt. it sits alot as you can tell, lol! it'll all wash off and look good again one day.

i used a C-clamp that i ground a notch into. i didn't need that plate that you put on top of the lower a-arm. it just worked the way i did it without it, not sure why, but it just did.

enjoy.

Henry,

The chassis is really looking nice. I hope you find a way to get it to Salado. I understand there may be an early running chassis there. It would be so cool to see the early one and the later one next to each other.

If you can't bring the chassis, at least bring photos and post them on the bulletin board for all to admire your work.

bent up the first line to the oil filter canister. all my goodies came in yesterday at once, it was like Christmas waiting for me on the kitchen table when i got home.

any thoughts as to why Packard put that loop in that line? seems like it would have been easier to just do a simple bend. maybe it would have been too restrictive.

made the other line for the oil filter. had to take it all off to get to the one on the driver's side head, including the power steering.
