There is all manner of self stick universal weatherstrip available that works pretty darned well. Look up "hot rod" weatherstrip, or self-stick weatherstrip. The one I like is hollow and circular in cross section with a flat flange on that bottom that is peel and stick. These come in several different diameters. One about 9/16" diameter works pretty well around 51-56 doors and enables them to close easily. You can find it on Amazon, Summit Racing and more.

dixied.com/page140.html Part number 16392 should be appropriate for the top and sides of the doors, generally. Packard used a different type at the lower corner of the windshield area of the door, but the generic is probably good enough there. I am getting more Packard generic made, but it's still a couple of months out. See my recent post here:packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=29271

Even though Amazon doesn't show auto use for the product, based on the description Ross provided of a hollow round about 9/16 diameter universal weatherstrip with a flat adhesive stick on bottom flange this 14mm or about 9/16 item is what I would be thinking he was describing. Granted it doesn't have the profile of the Packard item but if it works well and doesn't cost near as much then maybe worth a try.a.co/d/hZUKAH3 Attach file: ![]() ![]()

The hollow tubular is more forgiving on variations of seal thickness locations . More in keeping with the kind used on hewer cars. Also new cars use two or three rows of really soft seals which I think help keep doors in better alignment or equal tension on the sealing area. The tear off protective strip makes for neater job than the cement and rubber used before. We have access to a better grade of adhesives. We now have to admit that some changes do provide better results

Cost and originality aside, do you prefer this hollow seal over the original solid door seals? Would this work for the trunk as well?

Not Ross, but the ease of installation is a big plus. That with the lower cost makes an ideal solution, if you don't care about originality.
The original ones should work better to actually keep out water though, as they will seal with much more tension.
