Somewhat to my surprise I did receive a response to my email to the owner of this car. He says they are not rodding the Packard but doing a few mechanical upgrades for more safety on today's highways. Take from his statement what you will.

So dropping in a new engine, transmission, tilt-tele steering column and different wheels is not called "rodding"?

and the maroon polyester seats? and random color(s) selection? The only justice is the massive loss when this is sold as a used rod

He says "they are not rodding the Packard but doing a few mechanical upgrades for more safety on today's highways"

then they need to buy a Honda and not mess with this original coupe

as john Wayne said, "Life is hard; its harder when you're stupid."

Hi

So, the profiteer is defending his action on the basis of safety, that's rich. Well, not to be ghoulish, but the first time one of his "classics" bastardized for "safety", with its composite body, is involved in a serious accident, its driver and passengers will find out that vehicular safety is about a lot more than "going fast and looking cool". But Mr Rod-builder-for-safety will be nicely insulated from the tragedy by a thick padding of money.

Steve
