I'd be real interested to see the pics, as it might give me a few ideas.
On another note, I've been doing some looking online for others who have hopped up a straight eight, and have found that the Buick guy's are going along the same lines as I'm thinking. This is pretty much what I have in mind.

Well, since I bought those two 356's, this idea has gone down the tubes. BUT, it's still usable information to those who may want to try it.
Now, onto the reason why I dug this thread up. The 356 uses the same pistons as the 288/327. Same pin height. So, although I can't get a longer rod to drop the compression height down some, it looks like I can bore it out the 359 bore size (3.5625) and have a 369. Or, if I went out to 3.588 I would have a 374, LOL! I'm thinkin' that an .088 overbore will be no problem for one of these engines.

I think the cylinder walls will handle it, there's plenty of meat there to play with. Most of these old engines can handle .125"+. I'm not going that far.

I'm still laughing at Mal's post
But seriously .880 is a LOT more than .125. Your engine will be really water-cooled then.

While I am guessing you really mean't .080 overbore I really had a good laugh with Mal's and Randy's post. I would be interested in how you make out with boring the cylinders out that far. Where would you get the pistons in that size?

Where would you get the pistons in that size? Yup, typo, I didn't even catch it until now! I MEANT a total of 3.588". Pistons? As long as a piston manufacturer has the proper bore size blank, they can make anything to order. Of course the limiting factor in all of this is the head gasket. A 359 head gasket for the 3&9/16" bore will fit a 356, but I doubt that you can go much bigger than that.
