Sure, I've seen quite a few of those. It's called remote control not because it controls the radio in the front compartment if it has one, but because it's a separate radio with no connection to the front radio (except antenna), mounted inside the frame below the floorboards, and is controlled remotely from the arm rest. You can often spot these from outside the car - you see what appears to be a second battery box hanging below the floor but in reality it's the radio itself.
