This is where I start referencing your blog to finish my 55… one day….

Dash looks nice! I'm planning on pulling mine to get it polished up like that, also because I will be replacing the front windshield, that will make it a bit easier.

Some of those part numbers that y'all gave me for the windows channels were way too big for me. I think everything you gave me was 1/2 wide. I don't have that kind of room. You can see in the images below that I put the samples on the vent window channel. I am going to have to go with the 3/8 wide channel in the front and back.

I have not called anyone yet but I have looked at the websites or catalogs of Rubber the Right Way, Steel Rubber & Restoration Specialties. Evidently, there is no such thing as a 3/8 rigid window channel (w/ stainless bead).
The closest I have seen is 25/64, without a stainless bead. This is interesting.

Are you sure there isn't an old channel that you need to remove? Mine had an old channel that was attached in two places...one rivet at the bottom, and one at the top. Drilled those out and the old channel came right out. That left me with 1/2" of space. The '54 did not have a stainless bead, so went with one without.

Maybe the '55-56 is completely different? That would surprise me.

If your working on the windwing that channel comes off.

And you re rivet. Or use no. 4 screws.

The other. That is below the door. You use non. Bead type channel.

That fits inside bar. And its glued in.

I was thinking the same thing last night.
I have been looking for a channel to place inside the division bar that is circled below. Now I think the division bar WAS the original channel. All the soft fuzzy stuff dried up and fell out. So, the correct answer is the replace that whole bar with a new rigid channel.
That is going to be a PITA because I already have the vent window seals riveted in place. I think I will call Rubber the Right Way Monday and see if something like the seal in the 2nd image can be used inside the original channel. The metal frame (that slides in that channel) that is on the door glass is only 1/8 thick. It will not have the stainless bead but at this point, I am tired if thinking about it.
