Stephen,

Yes,, a Product called RMI25 does that ,,it takes the oxygen out of water so rust can't form. it works, but a 100 bucks a gallon,, you don't use that much,,but cheaper..

Riki,

I believe I welded the nut to the bracket and then welded the bolt to the nut. I don't think I welded the bolt head at all, but this still does the same thing as you are talking about, just on one side.

if I remember right we welded a half moon around the seem for the bolt and nut.

then welded a couple of sides of the nuts to the bracket.

Awesome! A whole lot less than 10 Gs for paint, and I think it will look really cool. Hope it works out.

My pleasure Hank. I know you won't be disappointed.

I am planning on painting the house with the Allback lindseed oil paint. Last year bought their IR heater/paint stripper-works great, used the pine tar and linseed oil to coat underside of the veranda-did a great job of bringing wood back and also got all 1st and 2nd floor clapboards and windows covered where there was peeling latex or window glazing compound missing. Doing this has bought myself at least five years of protection while I start on the house. Plan on doing the windows this year. House is a large 1890's Victorian. Found another plus, the original paint was lindseed so this is probably why the original wood is in such good shape. Sorry for getting off topic here.

I want to get my Packard up on jackstands this year and get the car undercoated w/ the lindseed oil. One tip- put a kettle on the stove and fill with water. Then suspend your lindseed oil in a can and bring to 140F- this is the optimum temp for applying the lindseed oil.

thanks i'll keep that tip in mind. just like I did JW's about murphy's oil soap.

this is murphy's oil soap mixed in warm water, scrubbed on by steel wool.

BAM, bye bye grime and dirty scaly rust. you can see the line where I cleaned a spot to test it, vs the really dirty top part.

perfect patina now!

Hank
