Accompanied by a few "magic words" no doubt!

Seriously, it's good to see you back "on the tools", I'm looking forward to further progress on the speedster.

There'd be a lot more progress if I could get that damn rear end out. The bolt heads are in such a position that it's almost impossible to get a socket on it.

And hopefully tomorrow, Don Koller shows up with the new cowl. Then it's time to get my welder hooked up so I can start building the body. I've pretty much given up on the engine from America's Packard Museum, as Bob won't answer his phone when I call and it's been 4 months since I last talked to him about it. So, I'm still on the search for a 359, or even a 356, at this point I'm not too picky, I'd even take a '36-'39 320 or a '36 385.

I'd hate to see it when you're "picky".

If I was as picky as I'd like to be (and had the dough) this would be a V12 Speedster.

Not much happening in the garage as of late, but I've been doing some "yard work" and living up to my signature pic by trying to get rid of some pocket gophers that apparently decided that my yard is "the place to be". So, since today's day 3, I actually got somewhere by using the garden hose down the holes and produced a baby gopher who was rather pissed off at me:

The sad thing is, I'm betting there's a LOT more of them, as I've seen the momma/daddy who was a LOT bigger than this one, and is apparently taunting me by adding more mounds in my yard each night just to tick me off. Next step: C4 in friendly animal shapes put down his hole to blast him to kingdom come!!

Greendragon, if you can tell me where I can find C4 legally for private use in the US I promise you no harm will come to the Speedster.

As for trading material, I have tons around, so good luck on the 356/359 hunt!

Today Don Koller brought the cowl and rear fenders from Alabama all the way to my place in Wichita. The fenders are from a 1933 Packard, and the cowl is from a 1936 Packard Super Eight Convertible Sedan, according to the ID tag on it. The cowl will have to be channeled over the frame, as it's way too tall as it is now, as you can tell from the pictures.

Owen, the cowl ID numbers are 14th 983 228, and the Thief Proof numbers are <|226096|>

And here's some pics:

Yesterday I got a lot done on the Speedster, I got the cowl dropped 4" and ended up with a nicer line more suiting a "speedster":
