I watched one of those Oil Pull tractors sell at the auction I went to last year where I got the Speedster chassis. It brought over $4000 and definitely wasn't in running condition. They're neat, but I wouldn't buy one.

Today I bought a '38 Super Eight hood, which will work with a little modifying.

A '38 Super Eight hood won't fit on a '36 Super Eight cowl without some modifying. So, since the top of the cowl is a little rusty and needs repaired, I'll add metal to make it work. The '25 grille, on the other hand is interesting. I was going to narrow the bottom of it, but now I'll have to widen the top to fit. It actually WILL work, the dimensions of the tombstone are the same except the center, which will be widened. The hood is the PERFECT length, as it gives me plenty of clearance for the fan. Here's the cowl fitment:

This shot here shows the room I'll have for the turbo's to stick out of the side of the hood. I won't be adding any metal to the bottom of the hood, as I think it looks good the way it is.

Looking good! Interesting that fit is reasonably close across the years.

Any chance of getting a full side-on shot of the set-up? From what I can see the '48's on the other side of the garage and depending on it's mobility you may not be able to get that shot at this time.

This is the best I can do until I get the '48 out of the way:

And yes, the "interchange" between the years is interesting. With a little work to the cowl and the grille it'll all match really nice. The hood's so long that I'll have to make a shroud for the radiator. From the fan to where the radiator will be is about 6"-7", so a custom shroud is in order. No, I won't take the easy way out and use an electric fan.
