Bypass oil filter install on the 37 6 cyl.
Ebay purchase of the canister / mount for a 50's "Packard". With several members input and photos I designed this mount and piping configuration. I accessed the front port o n the oil gallery While I had the timing chain covers removed I was able to run the feed pipe behind the backing plate, I used a piece of rubber tubing to protect the line from rubbing on the plate or block. I decided to use the Oil filler pipe as the return point so if in the future the filter is removed than there was no hole in the block. The inlet to the filter has a 1/16 reducer to reduce the possible loss of oil pressure. ADMIN ; please rotate pictures, Thank Larry

Larry, thanks for sharing the story and photos. The engine looks great.
Now would be a good time to mark the damper with timing marks and install a pointer on the front cover. I did this with my 115C and it made setting the timing much easier than using the port under the starter and marks on the flywheel. Just a suggestion. Please let us know how the start-up goes.

Well it's been a while since I did an update.
So. Long story shortened. I ended up with a faulty "reman distributor" Found after many checks on everything but the distributor. In the process I warped the head and the grandson assisted in the removal for reworking. The chrome shop sent the front bumper to another customer. The lost my center bumper guard, I found a usable core guard at David Moe's summer garage sale. Along with a wiper motor and Reman fuel pump. Also had the speedometer start squealing during a test drive so had that serviced. Also added a couple of still shots. Hopefully not upside down. ;) Attach file: 20211116_120306.jpg (148.91 KB) 20211030_131958_001.jpg (614.12 KB) 20211022_171848.jpg (443.84 KB) 20210720_134219.jpg (186.96 KB) 20210705_121154.jpg (250.58 KB)
