Just so happened a state trooper decided to stop to check if I was ok and spotted my awesome riveting skills. I ended up with a $250 fine for possession of stolen state property.

Not to take this topic too far afield, but you've got to be kidding me right? I realize that I only have a public school education, but I thought Germany lost WWII. Since when did the 'SS' take over the NC State Police.

Wake up people...America, and your freedom, is slipping away.

Now back to our regular programming....

amen ! you can always tell the cops that you bought a 'decommissioned' street sign if they ask. California sells old street signs

so, yeah, i guess this should be a Restoration Blog post....

that being said, does anybody know where the wipers on/off switch is in the '51 Packard 200 ?

I am finishing wiring tomorrow, Rich installed a hot rod kit , and we will be testing all switches!

I been peering around the dash, looking for wiper controls, and the only switch i think it may be is a knob on the steering column?

thanks for all the support Packys

Yes the knob on the side of the steering column moves a cable that connects to the vacuum wiper motor on the firewall. If you go electric then you will either need to mount an under-dash switch, or get a wiper motor off of a 55-57 Chevy passenger car that will bolt in the Packard location and is electric, but is still activate by a cable. Look at my Project blog for information on that.

If you would like I can move this thread to the project blogs forum for you, or you can start a fresh thread there yourself. Just please name it similar to the other threads in that Forum. So something like Koolkojak's '51 200 or similar.

Thanks,

I know most people on here are purists and don't like any major modifacations but I wanted my packard to look sleek and smooth so I had mine chopped and converted to a 2 door. I don't want to change it much from that I love the straight 8, the interior, and the grille is awesome. One thing I noticed about my car so far is it has people interested in packards everyone who sees it wants to know what it is and tells me how cool it looks. It wasn't cheap or easy to do but I'm happy with my car and I can't wait till the weather gets better so I can drive it.

Yeah he's in the same city as me he had to sell his car it went to arizona then that guy put it up for sale I don't know where it is now. If you do chop it don't cut too much I've seen a couple of Packards that got ruined by chopping too much out of the top it messed up the preportions. My car was chopped 4 1/2 in the front and 6 1/2 in the rear but my car is longer than yours so that might make a difference. Good luck on your ride.
