GTO,
The brake system on my car is new from end to end and it still pulled left in a panic stop. Since this is my wife's car and she will be primary driver I am making it stop safer. If auto makers thought as you do then we would'nt have disc brakes.

If your brakes pull, its because they are not adjusted properly.I am glad to hear that you drive a Packard as a daily driver.

I finally got outside and installed the disc brake kit from RPM Engineering onto my 56 Exec. Took for a road test yesterday and BOY what a difference, even with the TV power booster. First long distance road test will be next month to Lonestar Nationals in Austin, TX.
The kit was a total bolt on project which can be reversed for next owner if desired. Happy motoring to all.
Bill

Looked back thru this thread and don't see info on RPM engineering other than name. After the long trip if everything works as expected and you still recommend, would appreciate any part# and info you could provide. Maybe could go in the x-ref or another (mod??) category if Kev agrees. Also did anyone ever look or find a fit for the senior cars? Doubt if there would be a commitment for enough units for Turner to make them.

HH,
I discovered RPM Engineering in an article they did for Street Rodder magazine, December 2008, in which they built a kit for 1960 Caddy. I called them and spoke to Ron Metcalf about fabbing up a kit for the junior Packard. I needed a spindle from a 56 junior and remembered that Kev told me about Dan Yocum who has some parts cars. Dan agreed to loan me a spindle for this project. At the time Dan was not able to remove the part himself so I, being a member of N.S.R.A., remembered that we have a members book called "Fellow Pages", which are individuals across the USA that agree to help out any rodders in distress in their area. I located someone in same community as Dan and he agreed to remove and ship part for Dan and me to RPM. Ron stated that he already had built a kit for a 54 Packard which was the large hub which I believe is a senior. Following is contact info for RPM.
RPM Engineering-Ron Metcalf-22400 Lamel Rd, Sky Valley, CA 92241 Ph-760-329-1886
I couldn't have done this without fine people like Kev, Dan,
Richard(Fellow Pages) and Ron.

ps:I will update after trip.

Rowdy the pics may be to big. If you want to email them to me, then I will resize and post for you.

Glad to hear the kit is a bolt on. I know my '54 brakes, spindles and drums are the same as '55 junior. So hopefully that is the same as your '56. Can I ask what the kit costs out the door?
