Not sure when they first appeared, but the rubber boots used to seal the clutch and brake pedals against the floorboard were used from at least 1935 to 1956 with no break for the 23rd Series as for the pedal pads.

BDeB, congratulations - as it stands now looks like a tie for first. First appearance for 300915 seems to be on the junior cars in 1935 and then continuously thru 1956. The one I had in mind also started in 1935, though with the senior cars and hence is a much lower part number, and also continued thru 1956. After that looks like Packard1 has 2nd place with 300191.

EDIT: And the rectangular pedal pads tied with 300191 at 19 years continuous use.

Maybe there is a tie-breaker out there - anyone else?

Pedal Seals v. Pedal Pads

The decision is in favor of the pedal seals.

Close, oh so close, literally and figuratively.

This was fun! Let's do it again!

Congrats to BDeB!

JW - you sound like you're ready to throw in the towel and close the books.

I'll reveal my guess, 219312, ignition switch key lock cylinder, first used in the 1935 seniors and used thru the 1956 cars, hence the tie with the pedal seals at 21 years of continuous use. But there may still be something out there that beats these ....

So 210016 is no good?

Check it out. It was used on both senior and junior cars.

Hi Tim: When back in post 25 when you brought up this number, you said Well, not really. I thought it about during dinner and looked up the numbers.. So I figured you have taken that # out of consideration and didn't consider it further.

Here's what I found on 210016. Use from 1933 thru 1936 on the senior 8 cylinder cars, and use again in 1939 thru 1950 on the Super Eight engines. But curiously, I see no use in 1937 and 1938 though I didn't check the parts lists for the Twelve. Does this differ from what you found?

O_D,

As the song goes: "You got to know when to hold'm, know when to fold'm..."

Thanks for the great quiz, but me thinks there could just be something else out there... without looking at the parts manual - and being specifically for Packard - per your original guidance.
