Both appear to be ordinary 1/8 pipe to 5/16 inverted flare type adapters used in many places. In 56 they were both stock adapters. Since it was eliminated, maybe Ross would know if the metering adapter is absolutely required for 55s.

The modified one with the small hole appears to be part number 470049 in group 3.6395. Perhaps Kanter might have it. The hole measures .096 or a #41 drill size.

If you do make one, not sure how important the position is but it is made in such a way the hole is relatively thin and located about 3/16" in from the 1/8 pipe end. Almost centered in the threaded portion. The brass appears to have been drilled to a larger .213 or #3 drill diameter from each direction to just meet at center and then finished with the small hole.

I think there was a Service Counselor about not needing the one with the small hole???

Easiest is to melt some solder inside a standard brass adapter and then drill it to the .096 inch.

That said, although I have seldom rebuilt a 55 (everyone prefers the 56) I have used the adapter with the large hole with no problem.

If your friend is stuck, I will be happy to mail him one.
