Packard in Mad Men

The front end of a red 1955 Packard (could not tell if a Patrician or Four Hundred) appears twice in the closing scene of Mad Men. The car looks very weathered or prepared to look that way. Anybody know whose car this is?

I heard an interview on NPR with the writer of the show. Basically, Don's behavior parallels the one of the country during that time, with 1967-68 being pretty dark. I too was surprised to see the Packard. Thanks HBO.

It seems that Don Draper has screwed up his life so badly, that Dick Whitman is starting to bleed through.

This next season is also the last season. It should be interesting.

My wife actually pointed out the packard to me. She says "Hey that's a Packard like yours!"

Some days being a Creative Director with a Packard just doesn't pay.
I fancy myself more a Banacek than a Don Draper.

But I had a rival once whose name was Dick Whitman.
The 3-Martini lunches. Campaign ideas on a cocktail napkin. Handshakes.
Ah yes, I remember it well. Gone with the pay phone.
Text me about sometime. Siri will read it to me while I'm in overdrive on I-5
